Makeup Wars: My Favorite Cream Shadow.

After missing a few of the most recent Makeup Wars challenges, I am glad to be back and participating in this one. That's because we are talking about a favorite product again; this time our favorite cream eye shadows.

I sort of have a love/hate relationship with cream eye shadows. I have tried a lot of them from many different brands. Every so often, I get this weird reaction where my eyes get puffy when wearing them. After starting to get the same reaction from gel liners, in which they were all dark colors, I sort of have it figured out. I don't have an allergic reaction to the product itself, I have a reaction to certain pigments. I think. I still have to question this because I have never had a reaction to any of the cream shadows I have used from MAC.

Now, MAC has a few different cream based shadows: Paint Pot, Cream Colour Base, Pro Longwear Paint Pot, Metal-X Cream Shadow and Paints (which was my very first cream shadow ever). Out of all of those, my favorite, which I am officially declaring my favorite cream shadow is...

 

I really like the rich, creamy formula of the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot. It is easy to work with and blend with other shades to get the eye look I want. The cream dries down to a beautiful pearly glow. It never fades, or creases and lasts beautifully on my eyes all day. To apply, I use the MAC 242 shader brush. I gently brush the color over my eye, and then blend them all out with an airbrush concealer brush.

The Pro Longwear Paint Pots that I have pictured are from the brand new MAC Breaking Beauties collection. They are so pretty and I have been using them all together for a soft, spring eye.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot: Eclair, Fancy Frosting, Let's Skate!

I use Let's Skate! (the pale pink with shimmer) all over my eye, and then add Fancy Frosting (the frosted white) to the inner corners of my eye and finish my lid with Eclair (the light golden brown). They sell for $18.50 each.

My Favorite Oscars® Looks.

My favorites from last nights Oscars® just happened to be ladies who were the two big winners of the night, Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway. Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Anne Hathaway won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

Jennifer Lawrence looked beautiful in her Dior gown. As the new face of Miss Dior, I figured she would be wearing a Dior gown and makeup - and she did.

Jennifer's hair was done with Dove Haircare products and COVERGIRL Nail Gloss was on her nails. I love the balance of luxury and mass market products. I have the complete "Get the Look" details here: Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars® 2013.

Anne Hathaway got a lot of flack for her dress because of the placement of the darts. She made a last minute dress decision and scrapped her original gown, but I think she went with the right look and looked great in her pink Prada dress.

Six-Second Nail Art? Our Favorite Designs in GIFs

To update a plain manicure quickly, think about combining unconventional colors; If you're already wearing light blue polish, try topping it with bronze glitter.

Drop two blobs of polish for dipping onto a scrap of paper. Dip a Q-tip or small paint brush into the nail polish and apply tiny or large dots on your nails. For a twist, use more than one color, like mint green and bright red on a light pink base.

The French manicure is tried and true -- but also tired. Modernize it by swapping neutral hues for brights. Curve a piece of tape along the tip of your nail. Paint a complimentary color on the exposed tips. After 30 seconds carefully remove the tape. That's it!

Start with a day-old manicure and choose a contrasting light or dark color. Here we started with yesterday's beige base and added a dark brown complement. Affix two pieces of tape to form a triangle design. Paint the open space on your nail and let sit for 30 seconds before gently removing.

If you’re anything like us, you already have 50 shades of grays, blues and reds that are almost identical, but not quite. Salt has some surprising uses, whether it's creating a hair mist that rivals salon products to detoxing with Epsom salt in the bath.

It might sometimes be blamed for bloating, but salt is a treasure of hidden beauty properties. From exfoliation to actually reducing puffiness in skin, try these uncommon — and incredibly effective — uses for the kitchen staple.

BEACH-WAVES SPRAY FOR HAIR: To create perfectly textured waves, dissolve a teaspoon of sea salt into an 8-oz. spray bottle of warm water. Add 1/2 teaspoon of liquid coconut oil and a dab of hair gel. Then just shake and mist.

BATH SOAK: Mix a cup of sea salt with a few drops of almond, coconut, or another essential oil and pour into running water. Adding salt to a bath permits less water to be absorbed by the body, reducing skin’s ‘pruning’ effect on fingers and toes.

DANDRUFF TREATMENT: Work crushed sea salt into the scalp before wetting hair to loosen flakes and better enable scalp treatments to penetrate.

FACIAL TONER: To reduce oiliness, fill a small spray bottle with tepid water, add 1 teaspoon salt, and mist on your face, making sure to avoid eyes. Blot dry.

SALT SCRUB: After you take a shower or bath, and while your skin is still wet, sprinkle salt onto your hands and rub it gently on arms and legs. A salt massage will exfoliate dead skin cells and improve circulation.

SKIN STEAMER: To open up pores before exfoliating skin, bring 1/3 cup sea salt to a boil in a small pan of water. Transfer to a bowl, take a seat, and hold your face over the steam for 10 minutes.

FACIAL EXFOLIATOR: Mix 1 teaspoon fine-grain salt and 1 teaspoon olive oil in a small bowl. Gently massage the mixture into your face and throat. Rinse off by washing skin as usual.

TOOTHPASTE: A classic natural beauty recipe, start by pulverizing sea salt using a mortar and pestle. Combine 1 part crushed salt and 2 parts baking soda. Dip a dampened toothbrush into the mixture and brush your teeth.

MOUTHWASH: Rinse with a solution of 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda mixed into a 4-ounce glass of water.

EYE DE-PUFFER: Mix one teaspoon of salt into a pint of hot water. Lie comfortably on your back and apply pads soaked in the solution.

FOOT SOAK: An Epsom- or sea-salt foot soak is just what the doctor ordered for overworked athletes — or even just a long night out in heels.

FACIAL TONER: To reduce oiliness, fill a small spray bottle with tepid water, add 1 teaspoon salt, and mist on your face, making sure to avoid eyes. Blot dry.

SALT SCRUB: After you take a shower or bath, and while your skin is still wet, sprinkle salt onto your hands and rub it gently on arms and legs. A salt massage will exfoliate dead skin cells and improve circulation.

SKIN STEAMER: To open up pores before exfoliating skin, bring 1/3 cup sea salt to a boil in a small pan of water. Transfer to a bowl, take a seat, and hold your face over the steam for 10 minutes.

FACIAL EXFOLIATOR: Mix 1 teaspoon fine-grain salt and 1 teaspoon olive oil in a small bowl. Gently massage the mixture into your face and throat. Rinse off by washing skin as usual.

TOOTHPASTE: A classic natural beauty recipe, start by pulverizing sea salt using a mortar and pestle. Combine 1 part crushed salt and 2 parts baking soda. Dip a dampened toothbrush into the mixture and brush your teeth.

MOUTHWASH: Rinse with a solution of 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda mixed into a 4-ounce glass of water.

EYE DE-PUFFER: Mix one teaspoon of salt into a pint of hot water. Lie comfortably on your back and apply pads soaked in the solution.

FOOT SOAK: An Epsom- or sea-salt foot soak is just what the doctor ordered for overworked athletes — or even just a long night out in heels.

To update a plain manicure quickly, think about combining unconventional colors; If you're already wearing light blue polish, try topping it with bronze glitter.
